(1) Explanation of the situation

Initially, the next import was scheduled to arrive in Seongju on February 21st.

Last time, we reported that due to the impact of COVID-19 and the situation between the US and China, the trends of container ships, which handle the majority of global logistics, are developing into an unbelievable situation...

Even before the ship left Akita, we were informed of a significant delay, with the ship due to arrive on March 7th.

(2) Shinbashi

You should be prepared for a delay of another 10 days. It will arrive after mid-March.

If things continue as they are, we will run out of rice to sell. What should we do?

In winter, the Sea of Japan is a leaden world, as seen in "Tsugaru Strait Winter Scenery." Everyone is silently gazing at the freezing seagulls.

The sound of the wind shakes my heart, making me want to cry...

This would cause the ship to sway and be unable to dock, and would also trigger blizzard and high wave warnings, the sort of thing you only see in northern winters, making it impossible to load containers. However, this had been calculated.

I heard that ships were delayed all over the world and that the connecting port of Busan was in heavy traffic, so I made my reservation early, expecting delays of up to two weeks.

I was too young. The forecast was over a month late.

If things continue like this, we'll have to close the store for almost two weeks.

And what's more, Mom.

What's unacceptable is that it was one month late, and at the same time, the ocean freight charges were up to three times higher!

If Inazo 's delivery service charged $15 and delivered a week later (or so) ... it would definitely go bankrupt.

The shipping industry is a feudal business that is not afraid of this.

"That's worse than the Yakuza..."

Even the Hong Kong mafia sympathizes with him.

I can really understand how the B-class salarymen feel when they complain to each other in Shinbashi , but I guess I'll just have to accept it as a dog bite and give up.

3. Countermeasures

Even if sales of Koshihikari, Milky Queen, and Tsuyahime continued at this pace, there would be enough stock through February.

It is very sad, but we estimate that the number of customers returning to Japan between January and March will be 30 to 50 percent higher than usual.

Still, I'm not confident about having more than a month's worth of stock.

Therefore, we have decided to declare a state of emergency and to limit sales quantities early on in order to ensure that we can continue to sell rice without interruption.

Until inventory settles, we will be selling up to 6 kg of these three varieties, both white rice and germ-polished rice. ( We will then increase this to 10 kg.)

We apologize to families who eat a lot, but for the time being, the only value pack available will be "10kg of conventionally grown Akitakomachi."

The price is $75 for 10 kg, or $37.50 per 5 kg (including shipping), and of course the rice is milled just before shipping.

I would recommend this if you can store two 5kg bags in the refrigerator .

There is already very little stock of "Pesticide-Free Komachi." There is still plenty of "Specially Cultivated Rice Akita Komachi," so you can continue to order up to 10 kg.
