When a substance changes through a chemical reaction, it is simply a change in the composition of the atoms. If you collect the original atoms together, their mass will be the same as before the reaction.

Well, let's try rewinding time.

When humans were monkeys, when mammals were fish, when organisms were single-celled, when the Earth was formed, when the solar system was formed, when the Milky Way galaxy was formed... forever and ever.

If mass is energy and energy is mass, then even though the mass and energy in the entire universe change form through chemical reactions, is the total amount the same from the beginning?

For example, even as a baby, you weighed the same as an adult? That's incredible density. It must have been tough for your mother too.

If the universe has been expanding since its birth, perhaps the origins of the universe, which would later become our cells, were contained in a single tiny seed .

So, space appeared out of nowhere, time began, and atomic fragments scattered along with energy.

But, you know.

What does it mean to have "no time, no space, no nothing"? And how did the seed of the universe appear there?

...

Maybe your two-year-old son will ask you this question with stars in his eyes.

You 'll eventually come across a book by a physicist or science fiction writer who has encountered the same question. Research it, and when you're older, you can have a drink with it.

Dad wants to cherish the seeds of the universe that are likely sprouting within you .

happy birthday.
