Mitochondrial genes are only inherited through the maternal line, seriously!

October 10, 2020

Hey hey, Mom.

Do you know what mitochondria (M) are?

It is said that the human body has 60 trillion cells, and each cell contains more than 300 M, which actually accounts for 10% of the body's weight.

The funny thing is, M has its own genes.

What's more, my father's M traits completely disappeared at the fertilized egg stage, and for some reason they were only passed down through my mother's side.

Actually, M was originally a bacterium. It parasitized the cells of living organisms 2 billion years ago and evolved alongside them without assimilating their genes.

What's amazing is that since then, living organisms have been able to use oxygen as a natural part of their bacterial properties.

Even now, M is the one who needs most of the oxygen. Apparently, up to 90% of the oxygen we breathe is consumed by M.

So, what is M's role?

There are various reasons. M, which accounts for 10% of our body weight, acts like a "power plant" that powers each and every cell. Perhaps "vitality" refers to M's ability to generate electricity.

So, if we think of our bodies as homes, then in addition to "ourselves," we also live with M, who has completely different genes.

People talk to their pets, right?

So, ever since I got to know M, who is one with me but has completely different genes, I 've started talking to him. He's someone who is me but not me.

"How's the power generation situation today?" or "Do you need to take a deep breath?" The dog barks and wags its tail, but M's response is how I'm feeling.

Hey, mom, are you listening?

M is different, but in the end, half of my genes are mine.

When you're in fifth grade, you'll start telling not only your mother but also your girlfriend about your half-baked trivia, which will make them dislike you and make you develop a habit of silly delusions.

For example, sometimes you suddenly feel something like "intuition" or "inspiration" without even realizing it, right?

Maybe that's the whispering of a masochist.

That's why women have such a keen sense of intuition. Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that masochism can only be conveyed by women .
