However, while refined salt has a salt equivalent (sodium chloride content) of over 99.5%, this salt has a sodium chloride content of 91.7%. This is the difference between refined and natural salt.
The "ion exchange membrane method" for refining salt extracts only chlorine and sodium from seawater through electrolysis.
