Tokachi Toyokomachi soybeans are white, large, and sweet!
October 14, 2022
We have two varieties of soybeans.
They are Ryuho from Shirakami, Akita, and Toyokomachi from Tokachi, Hokkaido.
Toyokomachi, also known as the "Tokachi Beauty," has a smooth, whitish appearance and is slightly larger than Ryuho.
They are surprisingly large, more than twice the size of those produced in China and Canada, and are very satisfying to eat.
Because it has a higher sucrose content than other soybeans, even without any seasoning, the sweet taste of the beans spreads throughout your mouth.
Toyokomachi is sweet enough without any seasoning, making it perfect for salads.
The whitish toyokomachi is topped with yellow corn, shredded purple cabbage, red tomatoes, and green baby spinach...
In other words , try making a colorful, low-calorie, high-protein, and vitamin-rich salad. Wow, how gorgeous!
Thank you, I-san, for the recipe with photos!
Doesn't it look super healthy? Plus, thanks to the beans, it keeps you full for a long time. This is definitely perfect for dieting!
If you want a lighter meal, we recommend a slightly heavier salad with beans.
By the way, soybeans expand to more than three times their volume when soybeans are put back into water. They are sold in 300g units, but in reality, they weigh about 1kg. Try soaking the beans in water four times their volume for 12 hours .
Your child will be amazed at the rate of expansion and will have a blast.
